Beyond the Yearbook: What to Do With Your Senior Portraits

By Grace McDaniel

So you’ve gotten your senior portraits back and immediately sent your favorite photo to the yearbook, what now? There are many other ways to utilize these beloved images. As someone who recently graduated from high school, here are a few of my suggestions:

Graduation Announcements

One of the most popular uses of senior portraits—aside from yearbook ads of course—is graduation announcements. These printed cards commemorate your graduation and let friends and family know about your future plans. High-quality photographs elevate your announcements, making them highly personal and polished.

Profile Pictures

Seniors may choose to update their profile picture on social media with their senior portraits, but they can also be used as professional headshots for networking sites, resumes, and any applications requiring a clean, mature image. If you are planning to go through Greek recruitment in college, a senior portrait is a perfect photograph to use in your recruitment application as it showcases you in the best light, free of distractions.

Prints & More

Digital downloads are great, but there’s nothing quite like a pristine print! Getting your favorite images from your senior session printed solidifies this moment in your life with a physical memento that you and your family will cherish forever. Physical prints make perfect decor for your home—think a family gallery wall, tabletop display, or coffee table album. They can even be framed and sent as gifts to grandparents and other loved ones; we all know how deeply grandparents cherish photographs of their grandchildren!

Ultimately, your senior portraits are an investment in your future. By thinking beyond the yearbook and embracing their full potential, you'll find countless ways to celebrate your achievements and confidently step into your next adventure!
